Support is a HUGE factor in our success with WLS, and it can’t be stressed enough how important it is! I think a lot of us are embarrassed about our surgery, or aren’t sure how/where to look for support, so we chug along on our own. This is not the way to go!
Think of it as on the job training. When you start a new job, you get paired up with someone to show you the ropes, right? With bariatric surgery, we all need someone to show us the ropes. We all have questions that crop up afterwards that we can’t rush to the phone and call our surgeon about every little thing!
Don’t get me wrong, a buddy (or two, or ten) doesn’t take the place of medical advise! I’m not trying to suggest that at all! But we all need those people who have been through the ropes where we can ask “is this normal?”, “have you ever had ____ happen?”, or “can I eat that?” This is where a buddy, mentor, or support group really come in handy!
There are lots of groups on Facebook now, and I’m adding a “where to find” support page right here on my blog, so if you are looking for a new group, check back in a day or so and check out the list! 5-6 ice cubes
1 small ripe banana
1 cup skim milk
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 scoop Lean1 Banana Cream
3 packets Splenda
1/4 teaspoon each vanilla extract and cinnamon
Add all ingredients to blender, and pulse until smooth. Drink icy cold!
